Make a Difference in Your Patients’ Compliance to Radiation Therapy

Skin Reactions Are Everyone’s Concern

ErythemaSkin reactions like erythema and dry desquamation occur almost universally in patients undergoing radiation therapy. You see this in your own practice. So does the clinical research, with at least one study estimating some degree of skin damage in 85% to 95% of radiation therapy patients1.

Uncomfortable skin reactions erode your patients’ sense of well-being during an already-stressful time, and can worsen to the point of disrupting the treatment schedule.

Defend the Dermis

DIFINSA53Skin Protectant Lotion lets you make a positive difference in your patient’s quality of life and their compliance to therapy by helping them feel soothed and protected between radiation treatments.

DIFINSA53™ lotion is a non-prescription, over-the-counter medication for use on skin exposed to radiation. It is specifically formulated to help prevent, temporarily protect, and relieve chafed, chapped or cracked skin.

Safe and Soothing

DIFINSA53™ lotion contains a proprietary, patent-pending formulation of ingredients. It is the result of ten years of research and development by a multidisciplinary team of scientists and doctors at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center.

DimethiconeThe active skin protectant ingredient in DIFINSA53™ lotion is a silicone fluid called dimethicone 1%. Widely used in cosmetics, dimethicone is “generally regarded as safe” by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is clinically-proven to be non-irritating to the skin2-4. Four natural botanical ingredients (Silibinin [silybum], hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and niacinamide) in Difinsa53™ lotion will also soothe, not sting, your patients’ skin.

DIFINSA53™ lotion is hypoallergenic, non-greasy, non-sticky and absorbs quickly into the skin. Your patients will also appreciate its light, pleasant aroma.

Use Between Treatments and Beyond

Use After Treatment

DIFINSA53™ lotion comes in a pump-action, metered-dose dispenser, so your patients can easily apply just the right amount to cover their affected skin without wasting excess lotion. Patients can safely start using DIFINSA53™ lotion as soon as they wish at least twice a day, and then daily as needed between their treatments.

Pump ActionPatients can also continue using DIFINSA53™ lotion even after their series of treatments is over. Once they’ve returned to an active lifestyle, they can apply it before going outdoors, to help prevent, and protect from, the drying effects of wind and cold weather.

Do not apply DIFINSA53™ lotion to open wounds. Instead, please discontinue the use of DIFINSA53™ lotion and use your preferred hydrogel wound dressing.

For more information on usage, please view the Difinsa53™ Patient Directions for Use.

Steeped in Science, Developed by Doctors

Steeped in Science

DIFINSA53™ lotion was developed by scientists, radiation oncologists and dermatologists at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center. Several of these experts founded ProTechSure Scientific, Inc. to commercialize this and other discoveries. All of us at ProTechSure Scientific, Inc. care deeply about improving the quality of life for radiation therapy patients and are committed to continuing research into new skin care medications.

Clinical Trials Are Ongoing

Clinical TrialOur clinical experience and the literature to date support our belief that topical dimethicone may have superior efficacy in relieving minor irritation in irradiated skin5. Clinical trials are continuing and we would welcome your participation. If you are interested in conducting a study in your own practice, please contact our medical director or call 720-500-2266.
